Fiber Optic Network Conduit Installation Program
Iowa Code Chapter 8B.25 requires the Office of the Chief Information Officer ("OCIO") to lead and coordinate a program to provide for the installation of fiber optic network conduit where such conduit does not exist. Iowa Code 8B.25 also requires the OCIO to consult with other agencies to ensure that the opportunity is provided to lay or install fiber optic network conduit where a state-funded construction project involves trenching, boring, a bridge, a roadway, or opening of the ground, or alongside any state-owned infrastructure.
This website provides access to information concerning the Iowa Department of Transportation ("DOT") five-year state-funded infrastructure projects. The map below identifies where such projects are anticipated to occur. Users of this system may select any area of the State of Iowa to identify those projects and also register to receive notifications concerning new construction projects in areas where the installation of fiber optic network conduit may be of interest. Register for updates using the instructions provided at the bottom of this page. For questions navigating this website, please contact the OCIO at email@example.com. Providers interested in installing fiber optic network conduit in connection with any state construction project should contact the Iowa Department of Transportation directly for more information by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
